Job purpose
The Staff Accountant should be a detail orientated, motivated individual whose primary focus will be managing and executing billing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Over time, this position will expand into broader accounting responsibilities, offering a clear career growth path within the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
This role will report to the Controller for Sarjeant Propane.
- Prepare, generate, and distribute customer invoices in a timely manner.
- Monitor accounts receivable and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Reconcile billing data with contracts, sales records, and accounting systems.
- Ensure accurate and reconciled inventories on a daily basis as part of our internal controls.
- Maintain accurate customer records and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist with monthly close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries as needed.
- Support the accounting team in preparing reports, schedules, and documentation for audits or reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline billing and accounting processes.
- Take on progressively advanced accounting responsibilities such as accruals, expense analysis, and financial reporting as role develops.
- Any other duties or tasks as required.

Working schedule

The work schedule consists of 5 shifts per week at 8 hours per day, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Long hours may be required during the busy seasons in order to meet operational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in billing, accounts receivable, or entry-level accounting preferred (internship or professional experience).
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including drug and alcohol screening and physical.
- Must possess a valid G class driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle.
