IT Administrator

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of in vehicle devices, including GPS devices, point of sale devices, mobile printers, meters, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of network security, including firewall configuration, VPN configuration, and endpoint protection
  • Provide technical support to staff and resolve IT issues promptly.
  • Maintain documentation of IT processes, policies, and inventory.
  • Develop IT procedures. Develop and enforce IT and user policy
  • Responsible for Managing SharePoint Sites, User Access, and Permission.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for equipment and service procurement.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects.
  • Responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of in vehicle devices, including GPS devices, point of sale devices, mobile printers, meters, etc.
  • Administration of mobile and office phones, email accounts, internet connections and failover connections, with a goal of connectivity excellence and 100% uptime even in challenging rural locations.
  • Working closely with colleagues to resolve any IT issues.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT administration or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows server 2016, Windows server 2022, Windows 10, Windows 11).
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with Backup Solutions like Veeam, Wasabi
  • Experience with cloud services and virtualization Technologies (AWS, Azure, Hyper V).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) are a plus.
  • Experienced with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is a Plus

Working conditions

Working conditions are conducive of a typical office environment. Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as needed. Standard work week is 8am-5pm. Must have ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines. This role requires reliable access to a vehicle as travel across Northern Ontario is required.
