Bulk Truck Driver

Job purpose

As a Bulk Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of propane to our customers by loading and unloading propane into the bulk truck and end use containers.

In addition to the technical responsibilities of this role, you will provide a high level of customer service on a day-to-day basis while upholding the highest standards for safety in delivering and handling of propane, conducting regular vehicle inspections and maintenance and completing all paperwork in a timely manner.

Duties and responsibilities

This role works closely with the Service & Bulk Coordination Supervisor and Bulk Delivery Coordinator.

  • Deliver propane to residential homes, businesses, mines, and construction sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Visually inspect tanks to ensure they are in sufficient condition to hold and store product being delivered.
  • Report concerns and/or needed repairs.
  • Perform all required company and regulatory vehicle inspections prior to and following each assigned shift.
  •  Prepare and distribute required vehicle inspection forms in accordance with company and MTO requirements.
  • Preserve a safe work environment by maintaining equipment in a clean and orderly manner and in good mechanical condition.
  • Other duties as required.

Compensation

  • $28.00 to $30.00 per hour based on experience.
  • Eligible for paid vacation time.
  • Eligible for Group Benefits plan and Group RRSP plan.

Working schedule

The work schedule would consist of 5 shifts per week at 8 hours per day or 4 shifts per week at 10 hours per day.

Long hours may be required during the busy seasons of October-May in order to meet operational needs

Qualifications

  • High School education.
  • Minimum 3 years driving experience.
  • Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
  • Must have valid Class “AZ” or Class “DZ” commercial driver’s license.
  • Driving record must not contain convictions of any disqualifying offenses.
  • Possess reasoning skills to interpret policies and procedures, maps and route direction.
  • Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and to perform basic vehicle repairs.
  • Physically fit, multiple stops in a day, getting in and out of bulk truck and pulling delivery hose.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including drug and alcohol screening and physical.
  • Must wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to work outside and in all weather conditions.
  • Take pride in maintaining positive customer relationships by professionally representing Sarjeant Propane.
  • No previous propane experience necessary.
